Round 7- Knock
Hill
Knock Hill is
another track I have never been to - and believe me its a long treck from
home!.
From the moment
we arrived it seemed to rain non stop -which after the Brands Hatch round
was a little un-nerving. We had a few dry laps to get to know the circuit
- Knockhill is very short with lots of ups and down, an enjoyable circuit
to ride.
We struck an OK
set up but the weather was so unpredictable we didn't really know what
to do for the best. Qualifying went ok, I qualifyed 13th and was still
learning the circuit.
Coming up to the
race everything was wet, damp and had been for some time! my leathers
we sodden and heavy and it seemed like an up hill struggle going to the
race. From the start it was pooring and there was no doubt about tyre
choice. I was determined to get a good result and gritted my teeth and
went for it. The spray from the other bikes brought back memories from
Brands, and when a few riders went down in front of me all I wanted to
do was bring the bike home safely. I backed off a little, and at this
level thats alot!! I went backwards through the field - close to the back.
About half way through I was feeling more confident and getting the feel
for the race - the pooring rain had slowed and I could see ahead without
to much problems. I started to enjoy the race again and moved through
the field quickly to finish 12th. There was alot of overtaking to get
there but it was very enjoyable and I think I crushed a few demons from
the previous round.
I left the Knock
Hill (still raining) in 13th position in the championship,
