2nd round - Thruxton
08-10 April 2005
Fresh from his
first National Superstock pole position and new lap record at Brands Hatch
Indy circuit, he had expectations of strong performance at Thruxton, however
we saw a complete change in weather conditions from the summery Brands
to an overnight frost & very windy conditions. Qualifying was difficult
as Craig was plagued by some tyre problems, however still improving on
last years time was a positive since this is only his second ever visit
to Thruxton.
Craig eventually qualified in 8th. A good drive from the line saw him
exit the complex in 6th then picked up another position to move into 5th,
he settled in to the race and found a good rhythm, and with this a massive
battle of six riders all wanting that 5th place commenced, with positions
exchanging lap after lap, the tyre problems of qualifying came back to
haunt him at a crucial time. With this in mind he had ease off enough
in order to bring it home at the flag when, under the circumstances was
a welcomed 8th place.
